They Are Laughing At You Behind Your Back - 2004-11-13 |

Such A Beautiful Day
It was worth it, though. The sky was blue, the clouds were white and puffy and drifting lazily by. Not too hot, not too humid. Traffic was light on the way to and from work. I had dinner and continued reading Portnoy's Complaint. This book is hard to put down. I would not have ever bothered with it if Joel had not handed it over to me. And it is chock full of Yiddish. My improv classmates are moving to create a graduation show for our improv class. I think I will actually have one in August. It just makes me happy to think about being on stage again. The people in my class are all very supportive and encouraging. It does not seem to matter what I say or in what situation, when I come off the stage they tell me it was brilliant. And the funny thing what they are getting out of it is not what I intended. It is sort of like Being There. I'll always remember Peter Sellers in one scene in that movie. Someone asks him if he read some book they were talking about and he says, "I don't read." And the response is, "Oh, I know! Who has the time?" What he meant was he was illiterate. During one scene I said to the other actor, "Honey, I'm worried about the kids!" Everyone cracked up and called it the end of the scene. When I got off the stage they all told me that was hilarious. Ok. Sure it was. I only said it because I couldn't think of anything else. But they thought it meant something. Jimmy
