That's Better

Today was better.  I left work without feeling beat down and crushed.  Remarkable that I am now measuring my workday this way.  The halls and offices were empty.  All the bosses were gone.  It was great. We got a lot of work done.

Yesterday I rested. My sister and I went out for lunch and had Italian food.  It was very good, just what I wanted and needed.  I had a big salad and a huge plate of lasagna.  Talked to Mike on the phone.  He has been very busy lately too.  But his kind of busy involves dinner with friends and drinks at his favorite bar.  Why can't I have that kind of busy instead of the kind of busy where I am working like a dog?

I need a break and it had better come soon.

On Saturday I went to the dry cleaners to pick up my suit but it was not ready yet.  I am having a small repair made to one of the sleeves.  The woman who works there asked me if I wanted sushi.  What?  Yes.  Yes I do want sushi.  Her mother in law makes a lot of it for her and the other people in her family.

We were talking about our jobs and whatnot, she is concentrating very because she does not speak English very well.  She understands most of it, but there are a lot of words she does not know.  She once told me she taught herself English by listening to the radio.  Oh, I forgot to say, she is from Indonesia.

"You like sushi?" she asked.

"I love sushi," I replied.

"My mother in law make sushi.  She make a lot.  I give you some."

"What?  Why?"

"She make so much.  I can't eat."

I had not eaten at all.  I was very hungry.  "Well, ok.  I'll try one."  She stepped into the back room and opened up a big Tupperware container.  She brought it out front with some chopsticks.  "Here.  You try."

I picked one up and popped it into my mouth.  It was so good.  This was sausage sushi because she is allergic to fish.

"I put in bag.  Very good and healthy.  I can't eat." She said.  She put about 6 pieces into a bag and sealed it up for me.

I ate them all on the way to the grocery store.  Man, they were good.  She is a very nice woman.  I think she wanted to be nice to me because I helped her out once by explaining a notice she got in the mail about an insurance settlement.  And I think she felt bad because my suit was not ready. So she gave me some sushi.  Which I appreciated.

Since I was on call this weekend I had to carry the cell phone around with me.  The cell phone is horrible. I don't really like them, but they are very convenient.    The company cell phone has been going down hill.  Every time I used it all week the person I was talking to would say, "What?  I can hardly hear you."  So I had to yell into it to be heard.

One call came in at midnight on Friday and I was yelling my head off.  I had a similar problem with the headset for my work phone.  It was crapping out too and I was yelling all week.  It was not a good week for me to yell.  It put me on edge and made everyone else upset.  When I got in to the office this morning I told Kevin that the phone was broken.  He said he had noticed it last week.

Thanks, Kevin.  Please keep that to yourself.  So I went down the hall to the controller and he said it was no problem to get it fixed.  I sent the new, new guy, Viarum out to replace it. He came back with a much better phone.

I only hope I will not be there long enough to use it again.

I'm gonna miss those crazy guys.
