They Are Laughing At You Behind Your Back - 2004-11-13 |

The Boom Is Lower
I did a scene with one of the guys, we were brothers home from college and I was supposed to block whatever he said. That is, he would say "That's a big chair" and I would say, "It is really rather small." Our instructor stopped us and said that I should be more direct in blocking him. I said ok. The scene started again and as soon as the guys started talking I shouted "Nooooooooo!" I thought it was funny. Most everyone else laughed. In my favorite scene I was the Emperor of the Universe and everyone had to approach me one at a time and keep offering me things to make me happy. As soon as anything displeased me I would snap my fingers and that person would disappear. Each of the guys came up and offered me things. Then the girl came up and gave me her leather jacket. I accepted it, told her it was nice and then said, "Put it with the others." Then she started giving me a massage. The instructor had to stop the scene and create a new "no touching" rule because the scene was going on and on. She gave me a pot of gold, which I accepted. She told me she stole it from a leprechaun, so I killed her. It is so wrong to steal. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I was able to do some of my normal interviewing. I talked to the instructor about his job. He is cartoonist. I talked to one of the guys about being a stand up comic. He told me when he turns 21 in a few months he will have better access to working in comedy clubs. I wanted to talk to everyone, but I didn't get the chance. The boom was lowered at work today. My new boss wants us all to come in an hour early and stay an hour late. He told Kevin and me that we would be paid for our vacation time this quarter, not taking the time off. Fine. Keep twisting the knife. Increase my hours. Take away my vacation time. That ought to fix all of our problems. During our meeting this morning my new boss tried to use guilt to motivate us. That really has never worked with me. Also, as soon as any place I have ever worked starts talking about bonuses I just forget about it. There is no way to win. I had a really great bonus last year. That is pretty much the end of that. I knew it would not last long. Fine. Give me a bonus or don't. I really have no control over it. I am already working as hard as I can, so if that is not enough I really do know what else to do. Excuse me, I'm going on the web again to browse for job openings. Jimmy
